AMD and Anthropic Reach Multi-Billion Dollar AI Compute Deal

According to the Wall Street Journal, AMD and Anthropic have reached a multibillion-dollar AI infrastructure partnership agreement. The deal aims to bolster AMD's competitive edge against Nvidia while securing the compute capacity required by Anthropic.

Key Details

Under the agreement, Anthropic plans to purchase and deploy up to 2 gigawatts of AMD's next-generation Instinct MI450 accelerators starting in the first half of 2027. As deployment milestones are met, AMD may also invest up to $5 billion in Anthropic. This deal marks further validation and application of AMD GPUs in large-scale AI compute clusters.
