AMD and Anthropic announced a strategic partnership centered on a massive AI infrastructure buildout.
- Anthropic plans to deploy up to 2 gigawatts of AMD Instinct MI450 GPUs in Helios rack-scale systems, with the first gigawatt expected in H1 2027.
- The two companies will use Claude to help optimize AMD workloads and accelerate ROCm development; AMD will also adopt Claude across engineering and product teams.
- AMD said it has committed to a possible $5 billion strategic equity investment in Anthropic in the future.
- The deployment builds on Anthropic’s existing use of AMD MI355X GPUs.
