AMD and Anthropic strike a multibillion-dollar AI compute deal
WSJ reports that AMD and Anthropic have signed a deal worth tens of billions of dollars in AI servers. The agreement is meant to strengthen AMD’s position against Nvidia while giving Anthropic more compute.
- Anthropic will buy up to 2 gigawatts of AMD’s latest Instinct MI450 chips starting in H1 2027.
- AMD will invest up to $5 billion in Anthropic, its first check into the company, as deployment milestones are met.
