AMD and Anthropic unveil a strategic deal spanning GPUs and equity
AMD and Anthropic announced a strategic partnership centered on AI infrastructure:
- Anthropic plans to deploy up to 2 gigawatts of AMD MI450-series GPUs in AMD Helios rack-scale systems.
- The first 1 gigawatt is scheduled to begin deployment in H1 2027.
- The two companies will use Claude to help optimize workloads for AMD Instinct GPUs and accelerate ROCm development.
- AMD will also broadly adopt Claude across its engineering and product development teams.
- AMD said it will make a strategic equity investment of up to $5 billion in Anthropic.
