Anthropic quietly pushes server-side rule banning Claude Code game clones
rohanpaul_ai · x · 2026-10-31
Anthropic delivered a new rule to all Claude Code sessions around Oct 27 via a server-side flag tenguheronbrook — no opt-out, no update needed. The rule allows original games, games in a genre, and projects from the user's own designs/assets, but bans recreating a specific existing game "even if it is renamed or called original."
- A config screenshot shows the full rule text in .claude.json
- The author speculates enforcement reuses Anthropic's weapons-jailbreak classifier stack: small models reading requests+outputs against written rules, cheap probes on internal activations flaging intent to copy, and research tooling matching code/runtime behavior even after renaming
- Sparks debate about the future of game rewrites and modding with Claude
