Claude Code reportedly receives server-side rule banning game clones, with no opt-out

Developer chasm discovered that around October 27, Anthropic silently pushed a new server-side rule named tenguheronbrook to Claude Code, with no user-side setting to disable it. Multiple AI news accounts (markk, astralmatrix, Bestlife73, -Ellary-, etc.) relayed the story on October 30 with consistent details: original games, games in similar genres, and games based on the user's own designs are fine, but Claude Code should not recreate any specific existing game—even if renamed or claimed as original.

A screenshot of the .claude.json config shows the instruction does exist in Claude Code, and the rule text cited across multiple posts matches.
The rule was delivered server-side (flag name tenguheronbrook) around October 27.
There is no user-side setting to turn it off.
Reddit users posted with screenshots, saying Claude has begun rejecting/blocking "game remake" requests.

Unconfirmed

Whether this is part of a broader tightening of Claude's safety guardrails remains officially unexplained; some users suspect the blocks may just be occasional false positives.
Anthropic's motivation for shipping the rule (copyright concerns or otherwise) has not been disclosed.
