AWS AgentCore now lets agents trigger Step Functions workflows via MCP, no rewrite
DigitalColmer · x · 2026-11-07
AI AgentCore agents can now start trusted AWS Step Functions workflows via MCP without rewriting steps. Existing Standard and Express workflows become tools through the Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Gateway: the agent decides when to run and what input to pass, while Step Functions executes each step exactly as defined—so the agent can't skip or reorder them. The author also shared a multi-page AWS Agentic AI handout for builders and executives.
