Claude Code product lead Cat Wu jumps to OpenAI as Anthropic loses 5 key staff pre-IPO
新智元 · wechat · 2026-11-05
Cat Wu, product lead for Claude Code and Cowork, left Anthropic and joined OpenAI within a day, welcomed instantly by Greg Brockman. She's the fifth core member to quit in the 12 days since Anthropic filed for IPO: three went to startups, Cowork design lead Jenny Wen joined xAI. Wu previously left Cursor after two weeks, believing next-gen agents require a lab with its own frontier models. She brings a knack for mass-market productization (built Cowork in 10 days after seeing devs use a terminal tool for expense reports; shipped Claude Duet's proactive-but-confirming agent), and chose OpenAI for its billion-user reach. The move caps OpenAI's three-day sweep: Pando Git backend, Pierre acquisition, now Anthropic's top product mind.
