Zurich-based ANYbotics has begun customer deliveries of ANYmal X, the first legged robot built for explosive atmospheres, with first units going to Equinor and DSM-Firmenich. Every core component is individually certified to ATEX and IECEx: electronics sit in sealed nitrogen-filled chambers, while the 12 leg motors and battery use flameproof casings. Development took four years and yielded 10+ patents. Since 2023, BP, Shell, PETRONAS, Petrobras, BASF, and SLB have run the platform on hundreds of onshore and offshore missions.
