Machenta exits stealth with $40M seed, largest ever for a UK robotics startup

London-based Machenta emerged from stealth with a $40M seed co-led by Creandum and USV — the largest seed ever raised by a UK robotics startup. The Imperial College spinout is building a robot foundation model that performs a task immediately after watching one demonstration, with no further training; it was pre-trained entirely in simulation with zero real-world pixels. The 11-person team comes from the Robot Learning Lab and has no near-term plans to sell.
The post also notes ANYbotics began customer deliveries of ANYmal X, the first legged robot certified for explosive atmospheres, with first units going to Equinor and DSM-Firmenich.
