Google unveils Agent Compute Engine, rebuilding infra for exploding agent workloads
rakyll · x · 2026-10-23
Google distinguished engineers Rohit Jnagal and Ramanathan Venkatapathy announce Agent Compute Engine (ACE), a new Google Cloud service born from in-house agent usage exploding across the company — agentic workloads are now among the fastest-growing consumers of compute and storage in Google's fleet.
Key design: every AI agent gets a hardware-isolated microVM with container-speed startup and zero credentials inside the sandbox, aimed at running hundreds of millions of agents at planet scale with acceptable cost and latency. Google frames it as the next architecture shift after warehouse-scale computing, Borg/Kubernetes, TPUs, and Titanium.
