Agent Skills spec: SKILL.md folders that package expertise for agents
ClaudeDevs · x · 2026-10-23
The official Agent Skills docs accompanying the donation explain the standard: a skill is a folder with a SKILL.md (required metadata + instructions, optional scripts, references, assets), packaging procedural knowledge and team-specific context into portable, version-controlled directories that agents load on demand via three-stage progressive disclosure.
Benefits: domain expertise capture, repeatable auditable workflows, and build-once reuse across compatible agents. Contributions start at the spec and GitHub discussions.
