SF Systems meetup: agents-only version control Tally, and Postgres rewritten in Rust for 900x faster analytics
ShadajL · x · 2026-10-22
The SF Systems Club returns with an evening of data-futures talks at Recall's SF office:
- Tally: an agents-only version control system (Robert Escriva, Chroma) — replacing git with a VCS designed purely for agents. In that worldview you speak in patches: each patch's data structure is encoded twice — once as applicable content, once as a checksum encoding its behavior — and likewise for commits. The payoff: commit + patch = commit, with patches as morphisms in a groupoid.
- Rewriting Postgres in Rust (Michael Malis, pgrust) — analytics on Postgres is slow enough that teams export data to separate systems and hand-tune memory; the Rust rewrite delivers up to 900x faster analytics.
Social hour included; 100 already registered.
