Google Tests Putting AI Mode's Left Sidebar on Main Search Results
OnlineInference · x · 2026-10-16
Barry Schwartz of Search Engine Roundtable reports that Google is testing bringing the vertical left sidebar from AI Mode results onto the main Google web search results page. The sidebar places a small Google "super G" logo on the left, along with chat history lines, an entry point to start an AI Mode chat, and a settings icon.
The change was spotted by Damien Andell, who shared a screenshot on X and believed it had fully rolled out, but Schwartz could not replicate it in any of his browsers, suggesting it is still a test. If rolled out widely, it would make AI Mode far more accessible from the main search interface — one step closer to becoming the default Google Search experience.
