Google opens Deep Review to all: free AI paper reviews with parallel agents
lmoroney · x · 2026-10-16
- Google Research has opened Deep Review to everyone, evolving from its Paper Assistant Tool, which gave opt-in pre-submission feedback on 16,000+ manuscripts at STOC, ICML, NeurIPS and ICLR.
- It splits documents into logical sections, allocates more compute to dense parts like proofs, runs parallel agents on each section with the full document in view, and finishes with a synthesis pass that cross-checks sections and performs external grounding checks.
- Everyone gets two free reviews per week; connecting a Gemini API key unlocks more. Supports PDF and plain text, with multi-file support coming. Google says uploads are never used for training and are stored for a year.
- Author's tip for students: write the draft yourself, run one review, then fix every flagged issue by hand with a one-line note on why — that note is where the learning happens.
