van der Schaar Lab opens fully funded ML PhD positions for 2027 intake

The van der Schaar Lab welcomed four new PhD students (Jackson Harmon, David Nelischer, Qinghao Wen, Haaris Mian) and opened fully funded PhD applications for a 2027 start, with an online open house on Oct 27. The lab builds first-principles ML for medicine and biology: the first ML system used in the UK for ICU/ventilator demand forecasting, breast cancer causal models beating clinical best practice, transplant matching adding up to a year of life expectancy, and AI agent networks generating testable biological hypotheses.
