He sketched an LLM worm at a 2023 AI hackathon, then declined to build or publish it

Developer @genmon recalls that at Sarah Drinkwater's April 2023 AI hackathon, his backup project idea was a proof-of-concept LLM worm. The then-new ReAct paper (precursor to today's agents) made the approach feel trivial to map out, but he decided not to build it or write it up for safety reasons.
Instead he built a working "agents IRL" demo, won a couple of awards, and now runs a startup doing it for real — which he calls the better outcome. Drinkwater reshared the anecdote and teased another large hackathon in the new year.
