A university professor shares a working practice: since students no longer do pre-class reading, he enforces weekly reading quizzes. He drafts rough questions on key ideas, has Claude or Codex turn them into multiple-choice quizzes (deliberately avoiding Gemini so students can't game it with NotebookLM), reviews everything, then auto-syncs grades into his course software — about 30 extra minutes of prep.
Results: students failed the first two weeks under old habits, but after a few fails grades jumped and class discussion surged. Takeaway: make students accountable, use AI to cut grading burden, more assessments = more learning, and avoid assignments AI can do for them.
