ripgrep searches 30k Obsidian notes in 0.15s vs 4s with built-in search

Sébastien Dubois released part 7 of his Obsidian search series: a vault is just a folder of Markdown files, so any text-reading tool can search it even with Obsidian closed. On his 30,000-note vault, ripgrep finds an exact phrase in 0.15s vs 4s for Obsidian's built-in search. The guide maps six scenarios for going outside the app: raw speed or complex regex (rg/ugrep/git grep), terminal/scripts/AI agents, whole-machine search (Spotlight/Raycast), recovering deleted or past versions (git log -S), sharing links, and cross-vault search.
