Sequoia mines 15 years of X hype data, mapping top topics to each year's biggest startup
Scobleizer · x · 2026-09-09
Sequoia Capital released its "hype analysis 2.0: X edition", with analysts Konstantine and ochonaut ranking the most-hyped topics on X for every year since 2011, paired with the most valuable company founded that year. The standout finding: Crypto and Web3 held the #1 hype spot for a remarkably long run, yet hype rarely maps onto business value. Robert Scoble added that while you can't pick winners from X alone, the platform reveals what's gaining traction and who can change minds — but you still need TikTok, Instagram and other media to verify what sticks outside the bubble.
