Melanie Mitchell: Deep Blue never became AGI, and neither will this math breakthrough

Responding to mathematician Tristan Buckmaster's claim that AI's Navier-Stokes result is "a Deep Blue–Kasparov moment," computer scientist Melanie Mitchell agrees with the analogy but draws a different lesson: Deep Blue never went on to become any form of AGI, and the same is likely here — unless AGI gets redefined once again, which she rates as highly likely.
