OpenAI · x · 2026-07-17
OpenAI announced that, following extensive feedback on the new ChatGPT desktop app, several adjustments have been made:
- Conversation history and Projects are now directly visible in the sidebar.
- Chat / Work history syncs across web, mobile, and desktop; however, local tasks remain stored locally on the computer.
- It's now easier to switch between Chat and Work modes on the desktop app, aligning with the web and mobile experiences.
Additionally, Codex mode remains unaffected, and the team continues to fix detail issues while improving performance, stability, and efficiency.
