Google Research@ unveils Geospatial Reasoning agent and a wave of research breakthroughs

Google rolled out a batch of research breakthroughs at its flagship Research@ event, headlined by the experimental Geospatial Reasoning agent: it combines Gemini with Earth AI domain-specific foundation models (such as the WeatherNext weather model) and spatial tools, while expanding early access to more partners. According to the official technical report, the agent doubles the accuracy of out-of-the-box general LLMs on complex spatial questions, validating the "domain-specific foundation models + spatial tools + upfront planning" approach. New Earth AI capabilities including the Planetary Prediction Engine were also announced.
