TrueFoundry Open-Sources TrueForge, a Vendor-Neutral Agent Harness Claiming Up to 75% Cost Cuts

On August 19, TrueFoundry announced it was open-sourcing "TrueForge," the agent harness it uses internally to build and run general-purpose agents, under the MIT license. The company argues that once agents start doing real work, the harness determines how context is shaped and how tools are invoked, so this layer should be open.

TrueForge is a vendor-neutral, model-agnostic runtime framework for general-purpose agents, capable of uniformly orchestrating models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, as well as Kimi, GLM, and DeepSeek
The framework handles the most tedious runtime parts of building agents: context management, tool/MCP execution, sub-agents, sandboxing, approval workflows, and persistent state management
Benchmarks published by TrueFoundry show that at equal pass rates, using TrueForge can cut costs by 30%-75%, with up to 75% savings when running GLM
