CoreWeave pledges to Texas governor-elect: self-funded grid buildout and closed-loop liquid cooling

CoreWeave CEO Michael Intrator wrote to Texas governor-elect Gina Hinojosa pledging responsible data center development.
- The letter discloses 51 data centers operated across North America and Europe with over 1.5 GW of active power as of June 30, 2026, and roughly 4.2 GW of contracted power capacity as of August 11
- CoreWeave says it funds grid connection infrastructure — substations and transmission upgrades — so costs aren't passed to neighboring households
- New capacity will use closed-loop liquid cooling by design, with day-to-day water use comparable to or lower than a similar-sized office building
- The company has active facilities in Austin, Denton, Dickens County, Plano, Richardson, and Round Rock, and offers to work with the transition team on standards for future development
