In September, six pallets of Nvidia hardware were picked up in Oakland bound for Fort Worth, Texas, by a truck bearing a food transport company's logo. It never arrived; police last traced it to San Bernardino County.
- The haul was worth $11.4 million — at $30k per H100, roughly 380 GPUs, enough to run a 1-trillion-parameter open-weight model like Mistral's about 20 times concurrently
- A heist that once meant gold or cash now means GPUs: compute itself has become the high-value target
