Berkeley, Sony and Meta teach Unitree G1 handshakes and hugs from 260 hours of human data
CyberRobooo · x · 2026-11-07
Social Humanoid, from UC Berkeley, Sony, and Meta researchers, gives humanoid robots socially responsive behavior: handshakes, high-fives, hugs and assistance on a Unitree G1. It uses 260 hours of retargeted human interaction data, a shared motion vocabulary mapping human and robot movements into one representation, a diffusion model predicting both partners' next moves from live RGB-D input, and SONIC for whole-body execution — demonstrated in real time on a real G1.
