Meta acquires AI coding tool Conductor; cloud data deletion starts Nov 20
Div_pradeep · x · 2026-11-07
Meta has acquired Conductor, a tool that let developers run multiple AI coding agents in parallel workspaces. The founder announced the team's move to Meta on Nov 4.
Key facts for users:
- The cloud service shuts down November 20, after which cloud data starts getting deleted — about two weeks to export everything
- The core local app keeps working until early next year
The author warns this pattern will repeat: thousands of AI startups will be acquired, run out of money, or pivot, and many developers are building entire workflows on top of them. Before depending on any AI tool, he asks three questions: Can I export my data today in a normal format? What would I switch to if it disappeared tomorrow? Is anything important stored only in this one place?
