Dev warns: every SOTA model drop devalues your software engineering skills
zack_overflow · x · 2026-11-07
zackoverflow argues that clinging to the identity of "being a good software engineer" may be dangerous: each new SOTA model release further devalues coding skills, and depending on skill level a dev might not survive the next drop or two. He suggests derisking now by exploring other skill trees rather than identifying solely with software engineering.
