Stewart Alsop: LLMs aren't autonomous forces — there's always a human at the end of the chain
StewartalsopIII · x · 2026-11-07
Investor Stewart Alsop III argues that LLMs are not autonomous forces on their own, drawing on his week-long experiment with indoor robot autonomy ("dogbert"): he initiated the autonomy, remaining the pilot even when hands-off. He contends there is always a human at the end of the chain — mocking what he calls OpenAI and Anthropic's "leaky sandbox performance art" — and that humans remain responsible to God or something greater, living in a dyad with these "beautiful and alien machines" rather than being separate from them.
