Veteran C++ dev ships native ComfyUI desktop client, bypassing browser lag
elgeminy · reddit · 2026-11-07
A C++ developer with 20+ years of commercial experience released a stable Beta of a native ComfyUI desktop client, open source with a prebuilt Windows binary.
- Stack: an ultra-fast UI framework that renders thousands of canvas nodes without stutter, boost for networking, sqlite for storage, fmt for formatting, with Linux/Mac ports in mind
- Key insight: existing clients live in the browser because custom JS nodes depend on Litegraph's architecture; the internal logic turned out simple enough to port most nodes to C++
- Isolation: parts that must stay HTML/JS run in a separate process, so the heavy browser engine never interferes with the lightweight C++ core
- Also extended frontend-only nodes like reroutes and bookmarks, plus a demo video
