Ripple: open-source engine renders streaming model output into sliders, forms, 3D and games
prakashTech · reddit · 2026-11-07
Developer prakashTech built Ripple, an MIT-licensed open-source alternative to ChatGPT's new Intelligent UI: the model emits a small JSON spec and Ripple renders it as a real interface while still streaming — sliders, forms, 3D models, games, and a full checkout.
He compared ChatGPT vs Ripple + Claude on the same 8 prompts: ChatGPT returned working widgets for heart rate, bike gears, a habit tracker and tic-tac-toe, but the plane was a labeled picture rather than a 3D model, the HIIT "next exercise" button did nothing, and a food-order follow-up sat on "thinking" for 3+ minutes; on Ripple that order ran menu → test payment → live tracker.
The practices that moved quality most in his Claude Code workflow:
- Ask Claude to choose the widget before writing any data
- Make it look at its own output: render, screenshot at phone/desktop sizes in light and dark, fix, repeat
- Keep the spec streamable so the UI grows while the model types
Nearly the whole engine — renderer, 200+ widgets, streaming parser, tests — was written with Claude Code. Integrate via npx skills add qbtrix/ripple-iui --skill ripple.
