Community mod brings real DLSS Frame Gen to RTX 3090, matching 5090 frame-for-frame

Hardware Unboxed ran real DLSS Frame Generation on an RTX 3090 via a community mod and found frame-by-frame identical artifacts to a 5090 — same model. 4x frame gen worked in Cyberpunk, 6x in Crimson Desert, with 'smooth, consistent' pacing. NVIDIA claimed in 2022 frame gen needed 40-series optical flow hardware, but DLSS 4 moved to a tensor-core AI model the 3090 also has; the lock remains and NVIDIA declined to explain. kingslyj asks why no one with unlimited tokens builds a truly open-source, Nvidia-free driver.
