'Academia as we know it will be dead soon' — researchers now just manage Codex and Claude
_akpiper · x · 2026-11-06
ChaosLobby claims academia is dying: nearly every researcher in their department is essentially just managing Codex and Claude ("here's the problem, fix it, run simulations, write the paper"). akpiper agrees it's hyperbolic but directionally right — if humans manage AIs, how long until AIs manage AIs? He's moved from "this is cool" to "uh-oh," noting the assumption that humans must stay in the loop may not hold.
