Pinokio 8.3.7 ships security-first architecture after eMudhra certificate breach
cocktailpeanut · x · 2026-11-06
Pinokio developer cocktailpeanut released v8.3.7, born from an urgent response to the eMudhra certificate breach and now evolved into a broader security-first platform architecture:
- Shared security foundation: certificate checks, runtime updates, and repairs managed centrally, no longer dependent on each app's launcher
- Protections reach existing apps: fixes apply automatically when older app environments launch, without waiting for developer updates
- Checks built into install/startup: verification of critical downloads, required security updates, and recovery instructions become part of the normal workflow
- The desktop browser engine was updated with eMudhra protections for both browser requests and Node.js connections
The goal: Pinokio maintains the shared localhost infrastructure security while developers focus on their apps. Users should update to 8.3.7 (auto-update on restart, or manual download from desktop.pinokio.co).
