OpenAIDevs · x · 2026-11-05
OpenAI announced GPT-Image-2.6 is now available in Codex and the API, introducing two new API image models: Flare and Sunburst, which generate images 50% faster than before.
At medium or high quality settings, Sunburst keeps details more consistent across successive edits. Follow-up posts detail additional capabilities like marked-up image editing, 6-second low-quality generation, and GIF animation.
