3 MCP servers ate 35k tokens of context — dynamic tool loading fixed it
Jaig5970 · reddit · 2026-11-04
A developer hooked up 3 MCP servers (web search, social feed scraping, company/people lookup) to a small agent and found static tool descriptions alone consumed nearly 40% of a fresh context (35k tokens), plus 6 API keys in his env file. He ripped them all out and switched to searching for tools on the fly, loading only the endpoint each prompt actually needs — a practical fix for MCP context bloat.
