Tencent and Bilibili buy ByteDance's Seedance; overseas revenue up ~5x in six months

A WeChat report reveals ByteDance's Seedance video model counts Tencent among its top 3 China customers and Bilibili in the top 10 — video rivals buying the strongest video model rather than building their own. Over a quarter of customers come from manufacturing, healthcare and automotive, using it for industrial training and production simulation. Half of Seedance's revenue is now overseas, up nearly 5x in six months, boosted by an MPAA memo and TikTok's Disney deal covering Marvel/Pixar/Star Wars fan creations. Author's take: in AI video, the West is chasing China.
