Wayve CEO Alex Kendall met Japan's Minister of Transport Takeru Ibayashi in Tokyo alongside partners Nissan, Hinomaru Taxi and Uber, sharing the company's strategy for its upcoming robotaxi launch in Japan.
Minister Ibayashi also test-rode a Level 2++ autonomous vehicle and noted that high-level self-driving taxis are key to closing transport gaps in underserved areas — a signal of regulatory goodwill as Wayve expands beyond the UK.
