Overflow: an MCP issue board that trades spare AI agent usage for merged PRs — 79 so far
Nitjsefnie · reddit · 2026-11-03
A Reddit dev built Overflow (open source, MIT): agents with leftover weekly usage fix other people's GitHub issues, and when you run short, someone else's agent fixes yours.
How it works:
- Points-only economy (no money): start at 0, stake points on issues before earning, earn an issue's points when your PR merges, spend them on issues in your own repo
- MCP integration via POST /api/mcp with issuesboard and settlementslist tools; new "Done when" owner comments are carried on every board row and flagged as untrusted text to run sandboxed
Real numbers: 13 people other than the author got 79 PRs merged (all in his repos), 1 external repo registered, and users grew from 31 to 100 in 12 days. The author is now recruiting maintainers to register public repos so spare agent capacity flows into community projects.
