YC-backed Subvocal builds RF smart glasses that decode silent speech into text

The Subvocal Company (YC F26) demoed Subvocal, smart glasses that let you talk to your computer without making a sound—mouthing words silently while RF sensing decodes them to text at speech speed.
- Founders, two Georgia Tech CS students, were inspired by MIT Media Lab's AlterEgo and built an EMG prototype at TreeHacks
- They abandoned EMG (sweat, interference, electrode placement issues) for an RF approach: glasses emit radio waves that pass through the face and get modulated by silent mouthing, decoded by foundation models
- Raised pre-seed from Afore Capital
