Google Cloud unveils Agent Compute Engine: hardware-isolated microVMs for the agentic era
Arindam_1729 · x · 2026-11-02
Google Cloud's official deep dive frames Agent Compute Engine (ACE) as the next architectural reshaping after warehouse-scale computing, TPUs, and Titanium: agentic workloads are now among the fastest-growing consumers of compute and storage in Google's fleet, and traditional compute primitives can't run hundreds of millions of agents at planet scale within cost and latency targets.
ACE gives every agent its own hardware-isolated microVM with container-speed startup and zero credentials inside the sandbox, built on checkpoint/restore of idle VMs, copy-on-write memory sharing, Hyperdisk-persistent workspaces, and external gateways for network and credentials.
