Overnight coding agents stall on questions: bidirectional answer routing is the missing piece
onitsoga · reddit · 2026-11-02
A developer running always-on research bots maps the state of agent orchestration: the inbound direction (bot → coding agent) is largely solved — Slack and Linear triggers can spin up cloud agents, and MCP queues let agents claim tasks. The reverse is unsolved: agents started overnight sometimes hang on a mid-task question with nothing awake to notice. He's building a Kanban app where an agent parks its card with the question on the board instead of dying in a terminal, but the waiting itself remains. He asks whether anyone has wired an always-on bot to answer or route mid-task questions over MCP, or just lets agents decide and reviews after.
