Codex device limits: cancel a legacy subscription and you may not get it back
emax · x · 2026-11-01
OpenAI's help page reveals more details on Codex per-device paid account limits: subscriptions bought before the limits can continue under the existing-subscription exception, but canceling one means no guarantee you can replace it. Blocked at sign-in? ChatGPT/Google Play buyers get cancel+refund; Apple buyers go through Apple. Shared households, public devices, or one card used by several accounts can also trip the limit — and the exact number of paid accounts per device remains unpublished. Commenters are pressing OpenAI to publish that number.
