Anthropic S-1 math: subscriptions are ~18% of revenue but burn over half the compute

@teortaxesTex runs the numbers on Anthropic's S-1 plus SemiAnalysis margin claims (H1 2026):
- API revenue $13,064M, subscription revenue $3,222M, total cost of revenue $2,380M.
- At an alleged 92% API gross margin, API serving cost is $1,045M, leaving $1,335M of compute cost for subscribers — worth ≈$16.7B at API prices, larger than all actual API usage ($13.1B).
Conclusion: subscriptions bring only 20% of revenue yet consume 56% of serving compute; subscription gross margin is 59%; the average subscriber gets 5.2× their payment in API value, while a maxed Opus user gets 58.6× ($11,726 ÷ $200) — average users consume about 9% of what a maxed one does. The estimate is highly sensitive to the 92% margin assumption.
