Anthropic S1 reveals ~250 customers pay $10M+ a year as AI tool churn rises

Gagan Ghotra cites an All-In episode with a chart from Anthropic's S-1: in the 12 months to Sep 30, 2026, roughly 40 million customers paid under $100K, about 10,000 paid $100K–$1M, around 1,650 paid $1M–$10M, and about 250 paid $10M or more. Fortune 500 customers spent on average under 0.8% of their total expenses on Anthropic.
The post also highlights Chamath's point that hype-cycle executives buy 3+ overlapping tools, then cancel all but one after testing — a pattern Ghotra says is now playing out in AI SEO tools, with mid-market and enterprise customers who signed up 6–12 months ago churning en masse.
