WYSIWYG editors quietly print money — what other 'boring' niches can LLM-equipped devs clone?
CtrlAltDwayne · x · 2026-10-31
Developer CtrlAltDwayne points out that WYSIWYG editor companies like TinyMCE, CKEditor, and Froala make a killing selling editors and paid plugins — a problem that was hard 12 years ago but is solvable with the modern web; he built his own alternative to prove it.
He asks what other niches exist where any competent dev with LLMs could clone the incumbent and go further. His takeaway: building is now the easy part — finding customers is the problem AI won't solve. "We're product engineers now."
