Bing separates AI training from AI search grounding with new site controls
OnlineInference · x · 2026-10-31
Per Barry Schwartz at Search Engine Roundtable, Microsoft launched new Bing AI content controls letting site owners choose separately whether their content is used for training, grounding, or both — while staying eligible for Bing search results. Three settings: AI Training (allow/block model training), AI Grounding (allow/block AI answer generation), and Limited Grounding (support Microsoft's own AI products but not third-party grounding services). Publishers can now block model training while still appearing in Copilot answers. Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic offer similar controls.
