OpenAI blocks weapons details for teens, adds auto-ending chats fixated on violence

OpenAI announced expanded teen protections for ChatGPT:
- Blocking practical weapons and security-system details for teens, even when questions look harmless
- ChatGPT can now automatically end chats when any user appears fixated on violence; repeated endings may trigger temporary account pauses, with parent alerts in the works
- Everyone gets less detail on past mass attacks, including weapons used and how attackers obtained them
- Teen limits rely on an age-prediction model that routes estimated under-18 users into the teen experience
OpenAI released no accuracy figures for age estimation or violent-fixation detection, leaving false refusals and missed threats unmeasured.
