UMI-Live open-sources bimanual robot data collection; π0.5 hits 10/10 on real task
DJiafei · x · 2026-10-31
UMI-Live is a fully open-source bimanual handheld UMI system that takes you from handheld demonstrations to a trained robot policy.
- Each gripper has its own camera, LiDAR, compute and battery — no base stations, no scene calibration; one button starts recording both hands
- A pipeline processes finished episodes in parallel into LeRobot datasets, auto-uploaded to Hugging Face
- VLAs fine-tuned mostly on this data succeed in 10/10 (π0.5) and 8/10 (MolmoAct2) trials on a real bimanual task
- Everything is open-sourced: hardware designs, build guides, code, and 40 hours of data
